New Student Community

Where U belong.

New Student Community (NSC) is a year-long initiative hosted by Enrollment Programs & Communications where new students find community, academic and leadership development with their peers through workshops and social engagements. Students engage in workshops and social engagements with the guidance of mentors, known as Community Builders, to help discover what their Niner Pride will look like on campus and throughout their college journey.

Find Community Through Connections:

  • Evolve their academic and personal success at Charlotte

  • Explore their ability to make an impact and leave a legacy as a Niner

Applications for the 2025-26 school year close Friday, August 22 at 11:59pm. Use your Charlotte e-mail to access the application below.

Milestones

Academic Milestones

In order to complete the objectives of the NSC program and earn a certification of completion, all mentees are required to earn 12 out of 12 academic milestones by the end of Spring 2026. These milestones will be submitted via Niner Engage and be tracked by Community Builders.

Examples of these milestones include:

  • Joining one student organization outside of NSC
  • Using a Professor/TA’s Office Hours
  • Utilizing the Writing Resources Center or Math Learning Center
  • Having two 1:1 meetings with your Community Builder each semester
Community Milestones

For mentees that would like to go above and beyond, we have established Community Milestones below which are optional for mentees to take part in. Community milestones will be tracked by the hour. Members will earn Niner swag based on how many Community Milestones they meet.

Examples of these milestones include:

  • Volunteering at the Jamil Niner Student Pantry
  • Attending Niner Nation Week Events
  • Attending CAB events (Haunted Union, AUX wars etc.)
  • Volunteering at NSC Tabling

In addition to incentives, mentees who hit certain Community Milestones will be honored at the Niner Legacy end-of-year Banquet.
